How do wise children relate to parental rebuke, and who will not listen?
A wise son accepts his father’s discipline, But a scoffer does not listen to rebuke. (Pr 13:1 NASB)
Are the consequences of what we say important to consider?
From the fruit of their lips people enjoy good things, but the unfaithful have an appetite for violence. (Pr 13:2 NIV)
Why is it important to be very guarded in what we allow to come out of our mouths?
He who guards his mouth preserves his life, But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction. (Pr 13:3 NKJV)
Is a lazy person's appetite satisfied? Is a hard worker fully satisfied?
Lazy people want much but get little, but those who work hard will prosper. (Pr 13:4 NLT)
What does a person who practices lies bring to a business, a nation, upon themselves?
A righteous man hates lies, but a wicked man brings shame and disgrace. (Pr 13:5 WEB)
If living right protects us, are the wicked misled and destroyed by their own sins?
Righteousness guards the innocent on the path, but wickedness misleads sinners. (Pr 13:6 CEB)
Is it wise for a rich person to be less of a target by dressing simply, driving an ordinary car, while the unwise live pretentiously?
Some who have nothing may pretend to be rich, and some who have everything may pretend to be poor. (Pr 13:7 CEV)
Does flaunting their wealth just make an unwise person a target for criminals?
The ransom of a man's life is his wealth, but a poor man hears no threat. (Pr 13:8 ESV)
Does living right make our light shine, while wickedness is short-lived?
The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is put out. (Pr 13:9 HCSB)
What does a wise man willingly receive without causing contention?
Arrogance only brings quarreling, but those receiving advice are wise. (Pr 13:10 ISV)
What happens to wealth gotten by fraud and worthless pursuits compared to that gotten by honest work?
Wealth gotten by vanity shall be diminished: but he that gathereth by labour shall increase. (Pr 13:11 KJV)
What happens when we have to wait for things we hoped for? What happens when it finally comes to pass?
Hope deferred makes the heart sick, But desire fulfilled is a tree of life. (Pr 13:12 LSB)
What happens to those who hate God’s teaching, compared to those who study and live by the Bible?
One who despises the word will do badly, But one who fears the commandment will be rewarded. (Pr 13:13 NASB)
What is the advantage of listening to what wise people have to teach us?
The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a person from the snares of death. (Pr 13:14 NIV)
What will happen to a person living a lifestyle of lies and treachery?
Good understanding gains favor, But the way of the unfaithful is hard. (Pr 13:15 NKJV)
Do we seek knowledge before acting, or just rush headlong into decisions like fools?
Wise people think before they act; fools don’t—and even brag about their foolishness. (Pr 13:16 NLT)
Do our words just bring trouble or are we faithful ambassadors bringing healing?
A wicked messenger falls into trouble, but a trustworthy envoy gains healing. (Pr 13:17 WEB)
What happens to those who refuse to be taught compared to those who humbly accept criticism?
Poverty and shame come to those who don’t care about instruction; honor belongs to those who heed correction. (Pr 13:18 CEB)
Why do foolish and stupid people refuse to repent of their evil ways?
It's a good feeling to get what you want, but only a stupid fool hates to turn from evil. (Pr 13:19 CEV)
How carefully should we choose our closest friends and companions?
Whoever walks with the wise becomes wise, but the companion of fools will suffer harm. (Pr 13:20 ESV)
Are there consequences of two opposite lifestyles, sin and right living?
Disaster pursues sinners, but good rewards the righteous. (Pr 13:21 HCSB)

Israel’s Jubilee system guaranteed the poor had land to till, but did injustice take it away?
Much food is in the tillage of the poor: but there is that is destroyed for want of judgment. (Pr 13:23 KJV)
Is corporal punishment within limits, an appropriate child-rearing technique?

Does God provide for those who live right, but not the wicked?
The righteous has enough to satisfy his appetite, But the stomach of the wicked is in need. (Pr 13:25 NASB)
Is there a kind of wisdom that lacks humility and is not really that wise?
